JaceyCakes is a woman-owned manufacturer from Colorado that produces healthy pancake and baking mixes. The small company doubled sales in the UK in a year by participating in the 2018 FundMatch Program, coordinated by the Western United States Agricultural Trade Association (WUSATA) and funded by the USDA’s Market Access Program (MAP). By using FundMatch, they were able to double sales in the UK from 2017 to 2018 by launching a direct-to-consumer approach that works particularly well in the UK and Europe. JaceyCakes also uses FundMatch to exhibit at trade shows that attract large numbers of international buyers, such as Expo West.
“The time, effort and money we invest into international marketing are multiplied many times over through WUSATA programs,” shared Geoffrey Wanamaker, International and Specialty Sales. “Attending trade shows creates opportunities for face time with existing partners and new partners. How do you create trust through phone calls and emails? Trust is developed through face time over coffee or dinner, or even just a walk through the show floor. My customers come to me at Expo West and that is so valuable in building the relationships.”
JaceyCakes, which produces products under the FlapJacked banner, is located in Westminster, Colorado. The company was founded by the Bacon family based on the premise that healthy meals should not only fuel bodies but also taste great. FlapJacked’s first product, the Protein Pancake & Baking Mix, was initially developed to better serve the needs of their children. The current product line includes: Cookie Bars, Mighty Muffins, Protein Pancake Mix, Protein Cookie Mix, and Variety Packs.
